15 tips for doing Local SEO

If you own a small business and you want to use SEO to grow your online brand, you need to know that one size does not fit all when it comes to SEO tactics. For example, a website that sells t-shirts will use different types of SEO tactics from a site that sells bags. There are a few parts of SEO that are common to all types of businesses. To differentiate yourself from your competitors, you will need to use the right methods for you and your business.

  1. Get the Keywords That Google Will Use For Your WebsiteUse the Google Keyword Planner tool to find the keywords that search engines will attribute to your website. Just put in your home page URL into the Google Keyword Planner and get ideas for keywords. Do the same for a few of your competitor’s websites.

Optimize For Longtail KeywordsLongtail keywords are phrases that have more than three words in them. “”Yoga classes for pregnant women in Dallas, TX”” and “”Coding classes Los Angeles”” are two examples of longtail keyowrds. Many of your competitors will try to rank for the shorter words, so ranking for the longtail phrases will put you at an advantage.

  12. Know The Difference Between Branding and SEOYou sell t-shirts online, but you think of your company as a lifestyle brand. While that’s great for website copy, it’s not so hot when it comes to SEO. When SEO is concerned, it doesn’t matter what you consider your brand.
