To keep up with your competitors, you have to ensure your business maintains an online presence. The challenge with being online is that it is not just about being seen in the public, but it is all about being seen by the relevant public. That is why search engine optimization (SEO) was developed.

What SEO does is to ensure your small business maintains an online presence and is able to reach a potential client. Now and then, many people are searching online for services and products. That is why you have to find a way to direct them to your services and not to others.Remember you are not the only one offering those service. So if you don’t keep up, the clients may be directed to your competitors.

Here are some tips you can use to make sure clients and potential clients are directed to you every time.

List your business location on major search engines
This is the first step to take. You have to present your business, so people know where to find you. You should list it on Bing, Yahoo, and Google. Fill out your business information such as phone number, location and working hours.

After listing your business, and more information to attract customers. Clearly, optimize the information on this pages. You can add some well-taken photos of your business, all your unique services, etc. make sure you categorize your business well. Some search engines ignore businesses that are improperly categorized. So specify what your business does and list it under that category.

Create optimized landing pages.
Once you have listed your small business, make a good landing page that is appealing to potential clients. To further optimize this page, make sure it has a simple URL. The best URL you can have is one that reflects what your business does. You can use your business name to make the URL more unique. You don’t want to have a contradicting URL address. You can add a map or direction to your business.

Ensure the page is responsive and accessible to almost all devices. The page should be simple and easy to navigate yet appealing to customers. If your business has several locations, create different pages for each location to avoid duplicating everything.

Have an appropriate link strategy
Take note of all links on your website. They should relate to what your business does. Even when other websites share your link, make sure those websites are relatable to yours. This creates a good CEO visibility by promoting your business’ authenticity and credibility.

Share the link to your website on your social media pages. This will help you create a larger audience for your website. Everywhere you place your link should be carefully chosen. Don’t make a mistake when sharing the link on unrelated websites. People may think your link is spam or something like that. However, you should build a network with other relevant businesses to share each other’s links.

Encourage and reply to customer reviews.
When you serve a customer, encourage them to rate and leave a review for your business. Responding to the reviews helps search engines to find your business faster. Among the things, Google looks for is user generated content. So if your website has many reviews, the search engine prefers it over other sites.

Utilize social media
Maintain a presence in social media. Also, make sure your pages are active to gain more followers. Doing this maximizes your chances of the page showing up in search engine results.
