“One of the best things you can do to help your local SEO is to set up a Google My Business page. Google My Business, which closely resembles the Google+ business pages, is also located on Google Maps. Google launched Google My Business to enable local businesses to have a page that includes information about their business and contact information.

Therefore, having a Google My Business account allows local businesses to appear in geo-localized searches and offer their potential customers all the information they need. Also, even if offline directories are dead the online directories are still very useful. The best way to make your Facebook page appear as a local result is to make sure you select “”local business”” when you create your page.

If you have already created your Facebook page, you should always be able to make the change. Once you are there you should see the category and sub category of your business. Once your Facebook page appears as a local page, it will be important to fill in as much information as possible. Start with your business phone number, address, and opening hours. If you do not want to put your full address online for security reasons, you should at least enter the name of your city or the number of your zip code.

These are very important pieces of info for local referencing. They are needed so that a user will be able to approximately locate where you are. The most important thing to mention on your page is the information that will be displayed on the front page of your Facebook.

If you do not enter your phone number in Facebook, the URL of your site will automatically replace it on your page. It is up to you to see which of the two is the most important for your visitors. You may either have your phone number or the address of your website. If you prefer to highlight your site in a different way, you can also give additional information about your business via comments on your Facebook wall.

Yellow Pages and Yelp are also sites that are regularly visited by internet users who are looking for a specific place in their area. Moreover, these sites allow users to voice their opinion. This allows other users to know if the products offered are of good quality or not. This is the best way to strengthen your local SEO and avoid losing customers who will be disoriented in the face of conflicting information. However, for this strategy to be effective please ensure that all your information is consistent.

To increase your rank on local searches, you will also need to give some clarification to Google using microformats. Google will then understand the type of business you have and will be able to geolocate it precisely on a map. You will need to have some specific HTML code to integrate the microformats on to your site. These are enriched tags that allow search engines to better understand the structure of your site, and thereby give you a better position in the rankings.

As mentioned above, when you create a Google My Business page or sign up on directories, you expose yourself to user reviews. The better an institution is rated on the different sites, the more likely it will rank higher in the results. Therefore, work on getting good reviews.

Approximately half of the local searches are carried out from a smartphone. All the preceding points will be useless if you do not have a site that is compatible with mobile devices. Suffice it to say that if your site is illegible on a small screen, you will lose half of your traffic.”
