As the largest and most used search engine in the world, Google is the search engine that many companies will tailor at least some of their marketing efforts around. When many people look for a product, service or even a business’s direct URL through a company name search, they will often use Google. One of the many different marketing options available for businesses to focus their efforts on include the SEO local pack. With a closer look at what this actually is and how beneficial it can be for your business, you may decide to refine your marketing efforts to take advantage of it.

What Is the Local Pack?
The Google Local 7 Pack is appropriately named because it is the list of the top seven local businesses that are returned with a specific local search. It will include relevant contact information such as the business name, address, phone number and email address. It will also include the location of the business’s physical location on a map along with the physical location of the other six businesses that are returned in the Local 7 Pack directory. In some cases, seven results are not returned, and there may only be three or four results for some queries.

Why the Local Pack is Important
The Local 7 Pack is vital to those businesses that are targeting the local community, and this is because many users will use Google to determine which businesses to visit that are nearby. They may or may not already be familiar with the business name, and they want to see which locations are closest to them. When your target audience searches for your business locally, you want your business to be included in the Local 7 Pack results. Many who search for local businesses will only consider these top results to do business with and will not search for businesses beyond these seven.

How to Take Advantage of the Local 7 Pack
There are a few different steps that you will need to take to get your business recognized through the local pack results. First, register all of your professional contact information with Google My Business, and use the Google + Business features as well. Include your business’s full contact information on all social media profiles that you have. If you do not currently use social media for online marketing, you should start using at least the main sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, for professional marketing efforts. In addition, take a closer look at your professional website. Your website should have all of your business’s contact information listed. More than that, it should be locally optimized, and the meta descriptions should contain your local information. After you have made these updates, keep in mind that it could take up to several weeks for Google to locate your business and to consider it for the Google Local 7 Pack listings.

The Local 7 Pack listings through Google may just be one of several different ways that you can boost your local marketing efforts. If your business is geared toward the local consumers, such as if you have a local retail store, a restaurant or a service business that is focused on a specific city or region, you may consider the benefits associated with getting listed on the Local 7 Pack. Many of the steps that are required to be listed in the results of the 7 Pack are steps that each have their own benefits. For example, improving your social media marketing efforts alone can have a positive impact on your marketing efforts. Take time to revise your local marketing efforts today with these ideas in mind.
